Are you passionate about workplace safety and construction operations? Sunesis Construction is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting safety and compliance initiatives on active heavy civil construction projects.
As an EHS Intern, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to promote safe jobsites, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with safety inspections, hazard assessments, and jobsite observations.
- Support OSHA, EPA, and company compliance requirements.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
- Monitor PPE compliance and safe work practices.
- Attend safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
- Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Assist with environmental compliance activities and safety audits.
- Track safety metrics and support reporting efforts.

Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on active construction sites and uneven terrain.
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, and perform inspections for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear required PPE.
