About the Position:

Sunesis Construction is looking for a skilled Shop Manager/Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The Shop Manager will exercise direct supervision of mechanic personnel and the logistics of the shop.

Responsibilities: You will be responsible for helping customers and our mechanics, by providing product and service information while resolving technical issues. Prior foreman/supervisory or lead mechanic experience in the transportation/heavy equipment field OR automotive service advisor field, with a focus on maintenance is mandatory.

Required experience:

  • Managing mechanics and their work in progress.
  • Schedule and assign work as required.
  • Check and review work in process and follow-up for completion as scheduled.
  • Inspect and, if necessary, road test vehicles upon completion of work
  • Assist in maintaining a clean shop and making sure that special tools and shop equipment are in proper operating condition.
  • Act as liaison between the field and mechanics.
  • Driver’s license required, CDL holder preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engines.
  • Document and update customer records based on interactions.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base of the evolving products and services.
  • Repair and preventative maintenance; examine vehicles to determine probable cause of vehicle problem and parts and work required to complete repairs.
  • Truck engine maintenance; lube, oil, and filter
  • Performs engine performance and wiring diagnostics to isolate performance problem(s) and complete necessary repair(s)
  • Position includes the ability to offer input on purchase and replacement of all equipment in the fleet.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in service repair as lead mechanic or service management
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask managing daily work activities of semi-trailer mechanics and support service manager.
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Team player winning attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience:

  • Shop Foreman: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Diesel Mechanic: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Mechanic: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CDL Class A or B (Preferred)
  • Driver’s License (Preferred)
